Very Rare! ETAS No.5 Brass Penny in Slot Public Toilet Door Lock. Lavatory
This is a Very Rare, Brass, ETAS #5 Public Toilet Coin Operated Lock.
It originally used a British Penny to activate,
It is the model No.5 Manufactured by ETAS.
The coin receiver is still in tact, and has a part of the mechanism that when a coin is deposited,  an arm swings up and allows the "VACANT" and "ENGAGED" sign to be slid over into the window, but you have to do this manually. The knob slides freely, it is not connected to anything.
The main housing measures 13" x 4 1/4" x 1 1/4".  It weighs about 5 pounds.
It has a great patina look now, but if someone chose to, it could use a good cleaning and polishing. Please see the pictures for condition, as what you are looking at, is what you will receive.
Someone that has some mechanical ability and creativeness could probably figure out how to make this actually work on a door.
This is an estate item and being sold as is as found, I have no other information about this item.
This is a cool item that has the potential to be restored and possibly used again, or just as a great antique conversation piece !
