    Description

A very early wrought iron surface mount stock lock dead bolt, circa 1800.  Stock locks had wrought iron lock works mortised into a block of wood to mount.
This lock bolt is made for a left hand door opening inward - when mounted the plain wooden front shows (a beautiful piece of hardwood) and the iron works are hidden.
Keyed access from both outside and inside.  The wooden portion measures
    4
    3/4
    " high x 9" deep x 1"
.   With brass key 4" in length - bolt works well.  The wrought iron plate covering the inner works is visible on the back and measures 3 1/2" at highest x 5 1/4" deep.  The 1" x 3/8" bolt throws about 3/4".  Being sold as found.
